As a result, these heaters are more ideal for spot heating small spaces or individuals. They are also very useful in outdoor and semi-outdoor areas for use as patio heaters in restaurants, cafes and bars as wind does not affect their efficiency.

They produce a heated draft which acts as a curtain to counteract breeze caused from repeated opening of the door and to create a barrier to reduce bugs, debris or pathogens from blowing inside. Whilst commonly used in commercial properties, air curtains are also used in food production plants, storage units, factories and garages where entrances might remain open for long periods.
